East Coast Bays Dental began in 1997 when Dr Willie Steenkamp and his wife Anna moved from South Africa to New Zealand with their five children. Willie quickly saw a need for a dentist who was highly skilled, honest, and approachable. With Anna managing the front desk and supporting patients, the clinic soon became known for its warm atmosphere and genuine care.
As the years passed, the practice grew into a familiar part of the East Coast Bays community. Two of the Steenkamp children, Jan and Anneke, later joined the clinic as a Dental Therapist and Dental Hygienist, helping extend the family’s commitment to patient-first dentistry. Families from across the North Shore began relying on the clinic for reliable, friendly dental care.
In 2022, after decades of service, Willie and Anna retired. They left behind a thriving practice built on integrity, compassion, and trust. They handed responsibility to Dr Kent Yip and the current team, confident that the values they established would continue.
